Didja know the The Wiki has a “Picture of the Day” feature? I’m tempted to call The Wiki’s PotD archives a “time waster,” but they are NOT. At least not for someone who’s had a life-long lurve affair with photography. And just to whet your appetite I've included a sample pic… the night sky in Death Valley.

You really must see the full resolution version to appreciate the full impact of this image. Simply awesome. And, just in passing, the night sky about 30 miles south of P-Ville is just like the sky you see in the image above. There’s little or no ambient light to obscure the stars and it’s a brilliant experience to simply lay back and stare at the heavens. One of the best bennies of living in a sparsely populated corner of the world…
